The Christ in Jerusalem, denied... (2002) The sunlight in the yard awakened me to Palm Sunday as we gathered on ground that was labyrinth. Our minds engaged, lifting our hearts for the week to last. We went to the walk of liturgy and prayer. Chilling theatre in the Church. We said: He deserves death. Later we spoke more words from the Gospel together. “Prophesy to us, you Christ!” There was the reminder of Peter. “Certainly you are also one of them, for your accent betrays you.” When I wrote these poems, I was moved to express my feelings and pilgrimage in the Church. My desire was to find Christ among others in the Church, and within the Church. This sounds like repetition. It is not. There is a mystery in the Episcopal Church, and I am drawn to it. I hope that these poems help to express that mystery. Peter Menkin, Mill Valley, California USA (North of San Francisco)...2005. (CAPTION) Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem.
